August Alsina responds to criticism that he’s irrelevant following ‘entanglement’

The R&B singer has something more to say about the fallout from confessing his relationship with Jada Pinkett-Smith

August Alsina caused quite a stir earlier this year with the headline-making revelations about his romantic affair with actress Jada Pinkett-Smith. Now the singer who turned “entanglement” into a buzzword is responding to those who say he’s disappeared back into obscurity following the scandal.

According to The Shade Room, earlier this week Alsina took note of a post going around calling him “irrelevant” and as has become his way, he decided to address the assertion publicly. In the video, he opines that it is an “oxymoron” to call him irrelevant while still talking about him.

In the clip, the entertainer called out what he believes to be a “clout-driven” society and then advised his followers to not “feel pressured to constantly be on the internet,” noting he has oftentimes given himself permission to log off for the sake of his mental health.

As theGrio previously reported, last month during an episode of Red Table Talk, Pinkett Smith opened up to her daughter Willow Smith about what talking about her affair with Alsina meant for her. Despite their family being the butt of jokes for months, Willow told her mother she was happy about her being forthcoming.

“I want to put it on the table. I’m so proud of you. To be able to see you and Dad do that, for me, that was like, ‘OK, that’s the real deal,'” said Willow. “That’s real love.”

She added, “Like, when you can be like, ‘I’m with you,” she said. “I’m going to stand by you and I’m going to hold your hand’… that’s really important.’”

Pinkett Smith’s mother Adrienne Banfield-Jones, who is also a regular host on the show, praised her daughter for having “courage.”

After the explosion of press around the word “entanglement,” Alsina released a record with the same name featuring Rick Ross. The single peaked at number five on Billboard’s R&B digital songs sales chart.
