Alabama police captain placed on leave for social media post on Biden voters: ‘Put a bullet in their skull’

Scott Walden is under investigation and off-duty for writing an Incendiary post about the election

A police captain in Alabama is under investigation and on administrative leave for a social media post in which he seemingly advocated “a bullet in the skull” for voters who didn’t choose President Donald Trump.

Captain Scott Walden of Flomaton, Alabama recently posted on Facebook to share his opinion on the contested presidential race WKRG reports. In the post, he responds to a comment about those who voted for former vice president Joe Biden and their motives for doing so.

A winner has not yet been declared from Tuesday’s presidential election but Biden is on the cusp of collecting the necessary 270 delegates needed to capture the White House. Trump has alleged widespread fraud and claimed, without proof, that the election is being stolen. Walden participated in a Facebook thread that denigrated the results thus far.

“The idiots that voted for Biden hated Trump enough to throw the country away. Thank the lying liberals and democrats news media,” a Facebook user declared.

Walden responded that ballots cast for Biden needed to have dire consequences.

“They need to line up ev1 of them and put a bullet in their skull for treason,” Walden posted.

The comment generated outrage as well as official complaints. Walden sought to backtrack from his incendiary remark and insisted that the threat of violence wasn’t directed at “liberal Democrats” but at traitors. He also accused an unknown person of attempting to get him fired from his job by bringing attention to his post.

“Well apparently someone, and I know who you are as well as the others jumping on the “ gonna get them fired “ train is circulating a comment I made about TREASON. The comment even says TREASON but someone has run rampant saying I was meaning liberal n Democrats,” Walden wrote.

“Well #1 I don’t care who you vote for, #2 the comment was about treason and what should happen to the ones who are charged for committing treason . So either you trying to stir the pot or you are ok with someone committing treason but not ok with someone who says they should be shot. This is the world we live in.”

Flomaton Police Chief Charles Thompson issued a statement on the department’s Facebook page on Thursday to announce that the comments were under investigation.

“Copies of the comments and complaints have been acquired and retained for Internal Investigations,” Thompson wrote in a press release, saying that he expects to provide an update later today.

““The Flomaton Police Department holds officer’s conduct to the highest standard and will continue to do so,” the release said.

Thompson confirmed to NorthEscambia.com that Walden was on administrative leave “for his safety and the safety of his family.”
