Pooch Hall, Brittany Daniel to return for ‘The Game’ revival

Wendy Raquel Robinson and Hosea Chanchez are also set to return to the Paramount+ show

Details continue to pour out from the highly-anticipated revival of the fan-favorite TV show The Game. Pooch Hall and Brittany Daniel are set to return to the series when it premieres on Paramount+ this fall.

A successful series on not one, but two networks, The Game lasted an impressive nine seasons in its original run. As TheGrio previously reported, the new iteration of the series that originally aired on The CW before transferring to BET, is coming to Paramount+.

With series creator Mara Brock Akil handing the reins over to new showrunner Devon Greggory (American Soul), fans of The Game have plenty to be excited about later this year. Now, as the premiere date approaches, the cast continues to fill out behind the scenes.

Per a recent report from TVLine, Pooch Hall (Derwin Davis) and Brittany Daniel (Kelly Pitts) are set to return to the upcoming ten-episode series. While not returning as series regulars as they were in the original show, they are set to make “special appearances.”

Per a previous Deadline report, “The new series will relocate from San Diego to Las Vegas and will see new players offer a modern-day examination of Black culture through the prism of pro football. The team will tackle racism, sexism, classism, and more as they fight for fame, fortune, respect, and love—all while trying to maintain their souls as they each play The Game.”

As TheGrio previously reported, Wendy Raquel Robinson and Hosea Chanchez are also returning as their characters Tasha Mack and Malik Wright. While The Game morphed from a half-hour series to an hour-long dramedy when it moved to BET, the Paramount+ revival will see the series go back to basics with the original format.

The Game reboot is a part of an expansive rollout for Paramount+, one of the latest brands to come out of the streaming era.

Bob Bakish, CEO of Viacom/CBS shared in a statement, “Paramount is an iconic and storied brand beloved by consumers all over the world, and it is synonymous with quality, integrity and world-class storytelling. With Paramount+, we’re excited to establish one global streaming brand in the broad-pay segment that will draw on the sheer breadth and depth of the ViacomCBS portfolio to offer an extraordinary collection of content for everyone to enjoy.”
