Megan Thee Stallion starts foundation to honor her late parents

The group is called the Pete and Thomas Foundation, named after Meg's late father, Joseph Pete Jr. and mother, Holly Thomas.

Rap star Megan Pete, better known by her stage name Megan Thee Stallion, celebrated her 27th on Tuesday by launching a charitable non profit designed to help underserved communities in her Houston hometown.

The group is called the Pete and Thomas Foundation, named after the Grammy Award-winner’s late parents, Joseph Pete Jr. and Holly Thomas.

The foundation’s mission is to provide resources that lead to “meaningful and positive change” for women, children, senior citizens, and underprivileged communities both in Houston and around the globe, according to its website.

“My parents raised me to help others and give back, and I’m incredibly proud to launch this foundation in their memory,” Meg wrote in an Instagram post unveiling the foundation on Tuesday.

The foundation’s specific areas of focus include providing scholarships, school supplies, and resources to support education for students in underserved communities.

The group is also taking action on housing-related issues for the elderly, single mothers, and families going through financial emergencies and natural disasters. Hurricane Harvey caused a total of $125 billion in damage to Houston and surrounding parts of Texas and Louisiana in 2017, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Meg’s non-profit also plans to address cancer care, mental health, and food insecurity in support of its health and wellness efforts.

She told her Instagram followers she created the foundation to honor her parents’ memories. Meg’s father passed away when she was in junior high, according to Marie Claire. Her mother died after a long battle with brain cancer in 2019 just as Meg’s career started soaring to new heights.
