After prison, man turns to art and fashion (video)
After spending the better part of his 66 years behind bars for armed robbery, Bennie Holmes is now gunning for the runway. Sentenced to 40 years in prison in 1972, Holmes developed a creative side when he was behind bars and when he got out he put it to work.
His art supplies are made up of the refuse of others – matchsticks, beer bottles, and broken mirrors, and he fashions them into murals, sculptures and wearable items. His goal is to break into the fashion world with his matchstick hats and mirrored shoes.
