As first lady Michelle Obama spends her final days in Mexico City – her first solo trip outside of the United States – she is asked a question that many of her supporters have long waited to hear a response. Would she ever consider running for U.S. president?

For Michelle, the answer is an assured no.

“I am not a political animal,” says Michelle. “I think the whole arena of politics cuts against the grain of who I am authentically.”

Instead, Michelle says her primary role is to support the president in his mission to do what is best for the country.

“My job is to accent what he’s doing, not just because I’m his wife, but because he’s the president of the United States.”
