NBC New York – Police continue to search for the gunman who wounded six people, including a toddler, during a drive-by shooting in Brooklyn Sunday evening, law enforcement sources told NBC 4 New York.

A 25-year-old man was shot in the back and his 2-year-old daughter suffered a graze wound to the leg when gunfire erupted near Chester Street and Riverdale Avenue in Brownsville. Another teenager and three men in their 20s were hit in the leg and back.

None of the injuries was considered life-threatening.

The little girl’s mother and her family gathered at Brookdale Hospital Sunday. They did not know where the bullets came from or what prompted the shooting, but were stunned that a child so young was shot.

“I know what happens in the area, but when it comes to your immediate family, you don’t expect this to happen,” said the toddler’s grandmother, Letera Hinton.
