The federal government has issued a lien on the property and assets of rapper T.I. because he reportedly owed them more than $4.5 million in unpaid taxes.

The first lien was filed against T.I. along with his wife Tameka Cottle and was for $1,397,283.47 for the taxes owed for the year 2012. The second was for $3,173,476.39 for the taxes owed in the year 2013.

The taxes should be nothing to the rapper, who was named by People with Money magazine one of the top ten highest paid rappers for 2015 and whose wealth has been estimated to be around $215 million.

The Atlanta-based rapper has been in the business since 2001 and, in addition to releasing nine studio albums, founded Grand Hustle Records. He has also been in several movies and televisions shows and even own his own nightclub.

With estimated earnings for 2015 at around $75 million, the tax charges seem to be nothing in comparison, and yet the federal government says that it is still unpaid. Should T.I.’s tax bill remain unpaid, the federal government is likely to seize his assets.

There is not yet any word on why T.I. has not paid his millions of dollars in taxes, and the rapper and his camp have not been reached for comment.
