DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — President Barack Obama has plenty of advice for his daughter Malia as she gets ready to go off to college in a year.

He’s just not sure she’ll take it.

During a question-and-answer session with students in Des Moines, Iowa, Obama was asked Monday what his advice was for 17-year-old Malia.

He said the question seemed to assume that Malia would listen.

And then he added with a laugh, quote, “She’s very much like her mother at this point. She’s got her own mind.”

The president then went ahead and offered all sorts of advice — just in case someone’s willing to take it.

His suggestions included not stressing too much about getting in to one particular college and not slacking off on grades in senior year.
