Police searching for toddler after her mother is found slain

Authorities in California are searching for a missing toddler after her mother was found murdered last week.

Nicole Fitts, the 32-year-old mother, was reported missing April 1 and discovered dead four days later, but her young daughter, Arianna, is still missing. Police would not say how Fitts was killed but her body was discovered in one of San Francisco’s largest parks according to NBC Bay Area.

Nicole, who was known as “Nikki” to family and friends, worked at a Best Buy store and was described as cheerful and giving.

“None of this makes sense,” said Michael Jacobo, a co-worker. “She was one of the kindest people you would ever meet. She always had a smile on her face. It always stuck with me how kind and shy she was.”

Authorities say Arianna is “at-risk’ due to her young age and foul-play is suspected in her disappearance.

“It’s rough,” Fitts’ sister, Contessa Fitts, told the San Francisco Chronicle.

“The thing that is keeping me going is that we’re going to find Arianna,” Fitts added. “I have to keep finding information.”

A Facebook page originally dedicated to finding both the mother and daughter, “Finding Nicole ‘Nikki’ Fitts and Arianna Fitts,” has now been dedicated entirely to finding Arianna.
