WATCH: 15 year-old black girl beaten by white officer, family sues

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

The Free Thought Project reported that a family in Tacoma, Washington, is suing the Tacoma Mall’s parent company as well as a security firm for a 2014 altercation caught on camera that left 15-year-old Monique Tillman shocked with a Taser and beaten.

Tillman and her brother were on their way home on their bikes on May 24, 2014, when they decided to take a shortcut through the Tacoma Mall parking lot. A uniformed officer named Jared Williams was on duty providing security at the mall that day. He pursued the black teenagers and told them they were trespassing.

According to reports, when Monique told him that they were just cutting through and lived nearby, he became angry and attacked her, pulling her off of her bike. He proceeded to choke her and slam her body against a car before shooting her with his Taser.

“He was choking me, grabbed me by my hair and tried to slam my face into the concrete. The next thing I know, I’m on the ground being Tased,” the 15-year-old stated.
