Nicki Minaj and John Mayer’s flirtatious Twitter exchange goes viral

When Mayer took his shot at Minaj, Twitter promptly reminded him of racially charged comments he made to Playboy seven years ago.

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

John Mayer tweeted about Nicki Minaj on Friday, writing that he often thinks about her. He was most likely shocked when Nicki herself responded to him.

He wrote, “I spend an inordinate amount of time per day wondering if Nicki Minaj would like me or not,”

Minaj replied with a reference to one of his songs, 2001’s “Your Body Is A Wonderland.”

“Would my body be your wonderland?” she asked.

Mayer responded, “Please hold, losing my sh*t. This isn’t my reply yet.”

While many saw this flirtatious exchange as cute, others did not.

In 2010, Mayer made headlines when he said some offensive things about Black women during a Playboy interview. He actually referred to his penis as “a white supremacist.”

“I don’t think I open myself to it,” Mayer said at the time. “My d*ck is sort of like a white supremacist. I’ve got a Benetton heart and a f*ckin’ David Duke c*ck. I’m going to start dating separately from my d*ck.

“I always thought Holly Robinson Peete was gorgeous,” he went on. “Every white dude loved Hilary from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. And Kerry Washington. She’s super hot and she’s also white-girl crazy. Kerry Washington would break your heart like a white girl. Just all of a sudden she’d be like, ‘Yeah, I s*cked his d*ck. Whatever.’”
