The courts in South Carolina have confirmed that the mayor of Greenwood has been found not guilty in his DUI trial.

The 49-year-old mayor had been arrested in 2015 by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The troopers have said that Adams came to a safety checkpoint and smelled strongly of alcohol. He was then given a field sobriety test before being charged with driving drunk.

Adams was booked into the Greenwood County Detention Center and had to pay $1,022 in bond. He took a breathalyzer test in lockup and his blood alcohol level content was found to be 0.09.

He put out a statement in Greenwood Today in which he said, “I didn’t feel like I was impaired. I’m waiting on the results of the blood test.”

Adams’ trial was this month and lasted for four hours before he was found not guilty by the jury who took only five minutes to deliberate.

He responded to his not guilty verdict on Twitter with a surprising quote. He said, “in the words of Jay Z, ‘not guilty, y’all got to feel me.’”
