Dave Chappelle drops hilarious truth bombs about Trump voters in Netflix special
"You dumb (expletives). You are poor. He's fighting for me,'" Chappelle says
Dave Chappelle is laying down the truth about people who voted for Donald Trump in his new comedy special.
Equanimity drops on Dec. 31 and was filmed well in advance, but a new clip from the show seems incredibly relevant, given the new tax plan that the Republican Congress just passed.
Trump isn’t the president of poor white people
In the clip, Chappelle described the “decent folk” who voted for Trump in the 2016 election.
“I’ve never had a problem with white people ever in my life, but, full disclosure, poor whites are my least favorites. We’ve got a lot of trouble out of them. And I’ve never seen so many of them up close,” Chappelle said of his experience in the election.
“And to my surprise, you know what I didn’t see? I didn’t see one deplorable face in that group. I saw some angry faces and some determined faces, but they felt like decent folk,” Chappelle added.
“I felt sorry for them,” he admitted. “I know the game there. I know that rich white people call poor white people ‘trash’. And the only reason I know that is because I made so much money last year, the rich whites told me they say it at a cocktail party.”
He then described how he saw poor white people on Election Day getting ready to cast their ballots.
“I stood with them in line, like all of us Americans are required to do in a democracy … and I listened to them say naive, poor white people things,” he continued. He then goes on to describe how “poor white people” thought Trump would help them.
He then said, “I’m standing there, thinking in my mind, ‘You dumb (expletives). You are poor. He’s fighting for me.'”
