Friday, Pittsburgh residents were in an uproar after a video emerged on Facebook of a man brutally assaulting a black woman at a popular pizzeria.
The incident took place at a Pizza Milano restaurant in Pittsburgh’s Uptown neighborhood and it didn’t take long for the footage to go viral and spark protests.

In the clip, the owner of the establishment and a female customer can be seen having a tense exchange near the entrance. The man repeatedly tells the woman to leave as she tries to walk past him. Ultimately he shoves her against the door frame then head-butts her before tackling her to the ground. The final scenes show him repeatedly bashing her head into the floor as employees rush over to usher her out of the building.
Once the video was made public Mahmut Yilmaz, 41, turned himself into police and is now facing one count of simple assault and one count of aggravated assault.
But the assailant’s daughter Aleyna thinks her father is being unfairly targeted after the attack, and is hoping that president Trump can help her family fend off the backlash.

“@realDonaldTrump there have been protestors trying to shut my family’s business down,” she writes to POTUS on Twitter. “It is completely unjust and unmerciful. My father and our whole family have been huge supporters of you and we are hoping you would be supportive of us!”

While the irony of this young lady asking for mercy when her father clearly showed none to his victim seems lost on her, the community has rallied around the woman in the video using the hashtag #Justice4JadeMartin.
