Janelle Monáe and Jordan Peele have come together to provide a modern-day Hitchcock-style photoshoot, with “Noir Town.”

“I wanted to create a Hitchcock moment that doesn’t really exist in a Hitchcock film,” Jordan Peele said, according to W Magazine who asked the Get Out director to direct the fashion shoot.

Peele called up Monáe and the rest is Hitchocock history featuring an unsettling series of pictures around Monáe’s character. Peele said he wanted to create a story inspired by the Hitchcock noir by casting a woman of color in the lead role.

The images tell a straightforward story: a private investigator starts to notice people on the ground who look exactly like her. At first, there is just one doppelganger, but as more lookalikes appear, Monáe finds herself in a sea of other versions of herself.

Peele’s latest projects

Ever since the success of 2017’s Get Out, all eyes are on Peele as fans wonder what he’s working on next.

Peele told The Hollywood Reporter that he wouldn’t be against the idea of a Get Out franchise, saying, “I will definitely, seriously consider it.”

Since the movie was produced by Blumhouse Productions, which is known for horror franchises like Paranormal ActivityInsidious, and The Purge, a franchise isn’t exactly a longshot, either. The main problem keeping Get Out away from a sequel is that Peele has yet to create a story around it.

W Magazine’s “Noir Town.”

“I love that universe and feel like there is more story to tell. I don’t know what it is now, but there are some loose ends… you know the movie,” he said.

In the meantime, the Oscar nominated filmmaker has said repeatedly that he has plenty of ideas and plans to keep addressing “social monsters.” He’s already has an untitled 2019 project in the works in addition to this “Noir Town” fashion shoot. If the success of Get Out is any indication, we’re hoping he’ll continue to impress.
