Great surprise for inspiring teacher who drew Microsoft tools on chalkboard because students didn’t have computers
Owura Kwadwo wanted his students in Ghana to be able to learn about technology, even if their school didn’t have a computer in the classroom.
But Kwadwo wasn’t about to let a little detail like that stop him. So, he used a chalkboard to draw out what students would see on their computers for Microsoft Word.

Kwadwo, a student of visual arts, said that he knew it was a funny way of teaching, but he wanted to make sure his students in Ghana got to learn skills that would help them in the real world.
Pictures of Owura Kwadwo, and his chalkboard computer, went viral. Soon many people around the world were praising the enterprising teacher for going to great lengths to help his students succeed.
Microsoft steps in
After Owura Kwadwo’s detailed computer drawings caught fire on social media, they also caught the attention of Microsoft itself.
After tech entrepreneur Rebecca Enonchong tweeted out an image of Kwadwo’s artistic teaching methods, she then tweeted at Microsoft’s Africa office asking them to give the teacher “some proper resources.”

Microsoft Africa replied two days later and promised to not only give Kwadwo a device for his classroom but also to give him access to their MCE (Microsoft Certified Educator) program and free professional development resources, according to Today.ng.
Enonchong responded gratefully and then asked if Microsoft would be doing anything for the kids: “Yes!! @microsoft coming through for our heroic teacher. Thanks for doing this! He deserves all our support. Can we do something for the students too?”
The tech giant has yet to respond to that request, but the pictures of the chalkboard classroom are still being shared.
