Malia Obama goes fresh in the city with braided style and media loses it
Can a black girl just simply do black girl stuff like wearing braids without white publications angling to make it big news?
Well apparently not for first daughter Malia Obama who gave the folks over at Harper’s Bazaar heart palpations when she put her hair up in a protective braided style. We’re going to need those folks to step out of their comfy New York City quarters to look around and see that in the summertime, braids are life for black girls.
Good grief.

Obama’s got a look on her face like she already knew some bull was gonna come from her stepping into the sunlight after studying hard at Harvard all semester. But she has a right to #GoBraidedWhileBlack too, especially after exercising and sweating it out at Soul Cycle.
Can Malia live?
In this case, she’s not trying to make the news. Even when her momma Michelle sent Malia off to her and Barack Obama’s alma mater, she gave her daughter one sound bit of advice, “Don’t wind up on Page Six.”
“I don’t know if she managed that,” quipped Michelle Obama, according to Page Six.
Obama and her British boyfriend Rory Farquharson caught eyes when they were spotted out on the town in New York City in January looking pretty cozy together.
TMZ first posted the photos but they were soon all over the internet.
The pair first caught national attention when they were seen kissing at a Harvard-Yale football game back in November and it appears the relationship is still going strong.
Changing hairstyles is what free black girls love to do.
Last month, Sasha Obama hung out with Offset and Cardi B backstage at Broccoli Fest and let her blue tinted hair down while dancing her heart away in the VIP section.
While Malia Obama surely was minding her business, her latest hairstyle shouldn’t become tabloid fodder.
