‘Let’s not make things complicated’: Ciara ‘levels up’ on Slim Thug’s criticism of her relationship choices

Ciara has leveled up and while Slim Thug’s got an issue with the singer’s relationship with football star Russell Wilson, Ci-Ci loves her man and is riding with her boo. She clapped back at the haters with a lesson in humility.

If you missed it, Slim called in to radio station 97.9 the Box last week to blast Ciara and air doubt about her relationship with her husband after moving away from rapper Future and choosing a “regular” dude instead. He called Wilson “corny” and “square” compared to Future who has four baby mamas (maybe five).

“Do a woman who used to talk to Future really want a Russell Wilson?” Slim Thug asked.

“I don’t believe it. I think it’s all for financial stability.”

Ciara clapped back by giving Slim a lesson about learning from the error of her old ways.

“There comes a point in your life when you know better, and you have to do better,” she wrote on Instagram, while also hashtagging her new single “Level Up.”

Let’s Not Make Things Complicated, When They Don’t Need To Be ? #LevelUp

“Let’s Not Make Things Complicated, When They Don’t Need To Be,” wrote the “Level Up” singer.

Ciara then followed up with a post detailing attributes that she find to be cool in her man.

Ciara’s got a winner in the Seattle Seahawks quarterback and that seems to be ruffling Slim’s feathers since she found the recipe to having a great relationship.

And we have to remember, Slim is the same dude who gave lopsided advice and once said that Black women need to lower their standards if they want to be successful in love and ‘bow down’ to their man in order to maintain a successful relationship.

“Most single black women feel like they don’t want to settle for less. Their standards are too high right now. They have to understand that successful black men are kind of extinct… It’s hard to find us, so black women have to bow down and let it be known that they gotta start working hard; they gotta start cooking and being down for their man more…” he said.

Well good thing Ciara didn’t listen to that tone deaf and dumb-ass advice. Ciara, who knows her worth and instead chose to level-up in more ways than one, found a man who holds her in high-esteem and has a strong relationship with the Lord.

Ciara’s new single, by the way, has people doing the #LevelUpChallenge and it has gone viral and taken flight across social media.

Social Media Inspiration

The song’s title is a cleverly petty nod to Ciara’s controversial #LevelUp social media posts that got people pissed in the past.

Back in January, Cici reposted a video clip from John Gray‘s “He Who Finds a Wife” sermon, in which the pastor said, “Too many women want to be married, but you’re walking in the spirit of ‘girlfriend.’”

Amid backlash, the singer explained, “I was once that girl wanting to be loved a certain way but was making the wrong choices. I found myself at my lowest moment. I was a single mom sitting at home, and then I realized that the perfect love I was looking for was how God loves me, how He wants me to be loved, and who He was calling me to be as a mom and a woman. That’s when I realized married or not married…I needed to love myself.”

Girl you got it going on!
