God’s Plan: Drake gives a little heaven to 11-year-old Chicago heart patient

If the rapper's video encourages giving to others, then Drizzy is out here doing the Lord's work

Even if you aren’t a Drake fan, you can’t help but be moved by the way he made eleven-year-old Sofia Sanchez’s birthday wish come true this week.

Monday afternoon, Sanchez who is currently awaiting a heart transplant at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, got a surprise visit from the “Nice for What” rapper.

The visit was inspired by a heartfelt YouTube video she posted earlier in the week in which she invited her idol to stop by. In her clip, Sofia, tethered to a portable IV pump, and her cousin performed “In My Feelings” challenge in the hospital hallway.

In addition to the dance video she also recorded a video message for the rapper.

“My birthday is this weekend, this Saturday … your concert is this Saturday and I love your music. I was hoping that you could come cheer me up for my birthday or anytime this week,” she said.

Drake was in Chicago at the time for his Aubrey & The Three Migos Tour, with two back-to-back shows on Friday and then again on Saturday which also happened the same day Sofia celebrated her 11th birthday. So for the Canadian superstar, dropping by the see her was a no-brainer.

A video snippet of the visit, released by the hospital late Monday, shows a smiling Drake arriving at her bedside and sheepishly remarking, “You asked me to come, and I’m here.”

According to a spokesperson for the the hospital, Sofia and her fave “bonded over Justin Bieber, basketball and Drake’s two dogs.” They also took selfies and sang her favorite Drake song, “God’s Plan,” which coincidentally has a video all about paying it forward and doing kind acts for strangers.

The spokesperson added that Sofia said meeting him “was a miracle” and the “best birthday gift ever.”
