Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis got Twitter abuzz when she made a comment about interracial romance in film.
During an interview about her new film Widows, in which she portrays the love interest of Liam Neeson, Davis talked about how rare it is to see an interracial relationship in the way it is portrayed in this film.
“I’m dark, I’m 53, I’m in my natural hair – I’m in bed with Liam Neeson. And he’s not my slave owner. I’m not a prostitute. It’s not trying to make any social or political statements. We simply are a couple in love. I’ve never seen it before,” she said.
Viola is absolutely right here. Please don’t read the responses. They will infuriate you. https://t.co/IpGeqL17ZN

Since Twitter has no chill, it didn’t take long for the trolls to come out to play. Davis was gifted with a heap of hotep-like advice and “wisdom.”
“Diversity” was a white trick to sideline racial justice for African Americans. Now we imagine that sleeping with a white man is progress. SMH. Check out “Diversity’s Distractions”

Is a big deal? White Supremacy, or Black Supremacy? The world will soon come to an end. No need taking some things so deeply. Some things are what it is because the black man made a fatal mistake over 500years ago by agreeing to sell their own kind for mirrors & wines, etc

Yep, I’ve already seen it. So, basically, she wants to be seen as ‘equal’ to the white man – not the Black man (that’s too common, apparently). That’s all she’s saying.

Not everyone was a troll though. A few people stepped in to defend Davis’ words and her decision to take the role in the first place.
Maaaane, Viola said all that to really say, ‘look at me I’m in bed with a “Zaddy”,
Yal put way too much weight on these “celebrities”.

All of these hotep ni***s think Viola is happy about being with a white man in a movie. NO. She’s happy about being in a film with no black trauma which is the only role they give black women because seeing us violated sells and where she is seen as an equal, strong yet desired
