The men who were known as rappers emerging on the city’s hip hop scene, were found seated inside a vehicle in the back parking lot of Club Onyx. One of the men, Nicholas Esene, 24,  who went by the moniker Ghost Magneto, reportedly had just moved to the area and was eager to get his rap career off the ground. The other man’s identity has not been released.

“He was excited about making his album and he had just (moved) into a house. He was so excited. He called me and said, ‘Ganny, you will have to come and see my place,’” Brenda Harris, Esene’s grandmother, told KPRC. “After the doctor’s appointment, we were going to go and visit with him and then we go and get this call before I leave home.”

“He was a nice fella and he didn’t deserve this,” Harry Harris, Esene’s grandfather said.

Esene was discovered after a security guard reported hearing gunshots outside the club around 4:17 a.m. Tuesday.

Security didn’t initially see anything when they went to check out the area after hearing gunshots, but minutes later after patrons reported hearing shots, police were called to the scene.

Police say the two victims were friends and that they were were killed while while they were sitting in the car.
