In it, Jackson plays hitman Darius Kincaid who agrees to testify against a dictator at the International Criminal Court in exchange for the release of his wife, played by Hayek, from jail. Reynolds plays a disgraced private bodyguard. Reynolds becomes Jackson’s bodyguard as Jackson prepares to testify.
The sequel to the thriller-comedy is titled The Hitman’s Bodyguard’s Wife, according to Screenrant.com. The news organization reports that the film The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard also is in the works.
Freeman, 81, won an Oscar for Million Dollar Baby, the 2004 film about a boxing trainer and his young woman trainee.
The actor has recently found himself mired in controversy regarding the #MeToo movement and has denied allegations of sexual harassment made by several women that he worked with in the movie Going in Style, according to Screenrant.com. Freeman’s lawyer has asked CNN to retract a report related to the allegations, according to the news organization.
Freeman’s last appearance on the big screen was in Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms and also will appear in the Lionsgate film Angel Has Fallen, a sequel to Olympus Has Fallen, BlackFilm.com reports.
Freeman also hosts The Story of God on the National Geographic Channel. In the documentary series, Freeman travels to various parts of the globe — cities deemed the world’s holiest places — to talk to religious leaders, historians, archaeologists and scientists about their thoughts on faith and religion.
