Floyd Mayweather is often touted as one of the best pound for pound boxers who has ever lived. However, we are not so inclined to believe his latest retirement announcement.
Mayweather has retired from boxing several times before, so are fans supposed to believe him this time?
Maybe.

In a recent interview with Reuters, the undefeated fighter with a record of 50-0, stated that at 42, he is more concerned about his overall health than getting in the ring.
“I’ve got calls to get back into the ring, but my health is my wealth,” Mayweather said to Reuters. “Boxing is a very, very brutal sport. In the last few years a lot of fighters have died inside that squared circle.”
Mayweather is responding to the rash of boxers that have died in the last six months due to ring related injuries, including Patrick Day, who died last month.
“You have got to know when to hang it up. I had a great career,” he shared with the news outlet.
Fans last saw the master athlete in 2017 in an official bout, when he fought Conor McGregor. The UMC mouthy brawler was put in his place with a merciless loss, earning Mayweather a reported $300 million payday. The next year, he did a three-round exhibition during a special New Year’s Eve event.
“I’ll still travel and do exhibitions. I make great money doing exhibitions — between $10 [million] and $30 million,” he said. “I think I make more doing that than most fighters make fighting.”
If anyone knows anything about “getting money” in the sport without officially getting back into the game, is Mayweather. His company Mayweather Promotions is continuing to thrive and his Mayweather Boxing + Fitness facilities are open throughout the United States in four locations. Mayweather hopes to have at least 50 gyms open in 2020.
