Former WWE wrestler James ‘Kamala’ Harris dead at 70

James Harris, more familiar to WWE fans as 'Kamala' has died at 70-years-old.

A loss to wrestling fans worldwide as James “Kamala” Harris has died at the age of 70.

World Wrestling Entertainment, commonly known as WWE, confirmed the news in an official statement over the weekend.

“Under the frightening face paint of Kamala, the 6-foot-7, 380-pound Harris battled the greatest Superstars in sports-entertainment history, including Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, and Andre the Giant,” the statement read, reflecting on his legacy.

“He terrorized opponents and thrilled audiences in Mid-South, World Class Championship Wrestling, WCW and WWE until 2006,” the WWE said.

Also nicknamed ”The Ugandan Giant”, a cause of death has yet to be released.

Wrestlers, fans, and other members of the WWE community took to social media to share public condolences for Harris. The hashtag #RipKamala showcased an outpour of love and respect.

Former WWE Superstar Elijah Burke shared a heartfelt message on Instagram. He wrote, “Another legend who deserved to be in @WWE Hall of Fame and ALIVE when that time came. An all around great talent and good guy that got over and stood out wherever he went.”

Hulk Hogan also used Instagram to share kind words about his fellow WWE star.

“Very sadden by the passing of Big Jim”Kamala”,like everyone else I would always ask if it was ok to take the leg drop for the finish as requested by the office.Jim would always say “let’s just keep making that money,” he wrote in one of two posts.

WWE wrestler Mick Foley shared, “I am so sorry to learn of the passing of James “Kamala” Harris. I wrestled him for 90 seconds in 1986, but the lesson he taught me that night about treating others with respect has never been forgotten,” on Twitter, reposting footage of Harris in the ring.
