Bobby Brown reacts to death of son who reportedly had flu-like symptoms

The singer may have died from an illness rather than the result of drugs or COVID-19

Bobby Brown Jr. was reportedly experiencing flu-like symptoms before ultimately dying in his Los Angeles home on Wednesday at age 28.

The son of famed musician Bobby Brown Sr. might have died from an illness rather than the result of drugs or COVID-19.

The LAPD confirmed that when authorities responded to a report of a medical emergency at Brown Jr’s home, they discovered his lifeless body, theGRIO previously reported.

According to TMZ, sources close to Brown Jr. are saying an investigation into his death is underway. Drugs were not found at the scene and a toxicology test is being conducted.

Family members have told TMZ that Brown Jr. did not have the coronavirus.

Brown Jr.’s sudden death is another devastating loss for the high profile family. He is the second child of the 51-year-old “King of R&B” to die and follows the tragic 2015 death of his younger half-sister Bobbi Kristina Brown, 22, the daughter of Bobby Brown and late singer Whitney Houston. Bobby Jr. is Brown’s son with Kim Ward, who he dated for 11 years before his relationship with Houston. Brown has five other children.

“Please keep my family in your prayers at this time. Losing my son at this point in our lives has devastated my family. There are no words to explain the pain,” Brown Sr. told TMZ.

Bobby Brown’s eldest son, Landon Brown, posted a photo of Bobby Jr. on Instagram Wednesday, writing “I love you forever King.”

As theGrio previously reported, Bobbi Kristina’s former boyfriend, Nick Gordon, 30, died earlier this year from a heroin overdose, according to a Florida medical examiner’s report.

Brown Jr. occasionally appeared on Brown’s reality show Being Bobby Brown, which aired on Bravo for one season in 2005. He also launched a music career as a singer and rapper, which he often promoted on his Instagram page. More recently, he released a music video for a song called “Say Something.”
