Jeremih ‘showing progress,’ breathing on his own after COVID-19 hospitalization

The R&B singer 'has been given a lower dosage on his medication,' according to a cousin's Instagram update.

“Praise report!!!!”

Jeremih’s cousin, Willie Taylor, began a positive Instagram post Wednesday with those words, reporting that the 33-year-old R&B singer, hospitalized with coronavirus, is “breathing on his own and has been given a lower dosage on his medication.”

“God is amazing,” wrote Taylor. “Keep those prayers going up. God is showing up and showing out!!”

TMZ reported Saturday that Jeremih was hospitalized in an intensive care unit and was said to be on a ventilator. The post from his cousin doesn’t note if the latter is still true, but his prognosis seems better.

Two days ago, a member of his management team gave an update on his COVID-19 battle.

Adam Smith told The Kenny Burns Show the “Birthday Sex” crooner is “still ill; he is still in the hospital. He’s not out of the dark yet. He’s stable. He still has a way to go before anything.”

Jeremih, a Chicago native, is hospitalized in his hometown, but he’s getting support from doctors at UCLA, with the assistance of Sean “Diddy” Combs.

It has not been disclosed if he has underlying medical conditions that may have worsened his battle with coronavirus.

Just today, the United States of America has passed the bleak landmark of 250,000 deaths from COVID-19. Vaccines are being fast-tracked, and the news is exciting, but the latest spike in the virus means more people will die first.

Jeremih is one Black celebrity who’s had a difficult fight, but others, including Trey Songz, have also suffered from the virus. Gospel icon Fred Hammond recently was diagnosed.

As many states are moving toward stricter coronavirus lockdowns again, experts advise continued adherence to mask-wearing, social distancing, hand sanitization and scaled-back Thanksgiving holiday plans.
