Amanda Seales developing scripted series with Bunim/Murray

"Amanda Seales is Difficult'" is reportedly being developed in what is described as the company's "first residency."

Insecure may be coming to an end, but one of its brightest talents, Amanda Seales, is just getting started. According to a recent announcement, the actress is developing a scripted series with Bunim/Murray Productions.

Deadline reports that Bunim/Murray — the creative firm known infamously for producing Keeping Up with the Kardashians for all 20 seasons — is working with Seales to develop her scripted series, Amanda Seales Is Difficult. Known for her stand-up comedy career, as well as her role as Tiffany DuBois on Insecure and stint as a co-host of The Real, Seales will reportedly “develop, produce and potentially star in both scripted and unscripted series across the company.”

This is the first residency deal at Bunim/Murray Productions, which will reportedly see Seales “production company Smart, Funny & Black housed at the studio.” According to Deadline, “BMP’s The Residency is a program designed for creators and producers to use its creative services, including full access to the studio’s development team and production services.”

Seales released an official statement along with the deal announcement, speaking to what excites her. She shared: “This residency with the team at Bunim Murray is a major elevation opportunity for Smart Funny & Black Productions, which has grown from the ground-up, rooted in using comedy to strengthen community. And what’s exciting about working with BMP, is that they’re not only mavericks in the unscripted space, but they’re also actively expanding their slate to other formats.”

“I’m incredibly excited to be a driving force in bringing Black comedic narratives and joyful stories to the screen,” Seales continued, “via my scripted and unscripted projects that span from competition formats to talking head and to whatever other dopeness the SFB/BMP squad and I drum up.” She also shared the Deadline report to her official instagram account, writing in the caption of her post, “WATCH ME WORK! Thank you @bunimmurray + @smartfunnyandblack ??♥️✊?.”

Seales recently wrapped on Insecure, which, as theGrio previously reported, is set to air its last season soon. Having played Tiffany DuBois for all five seasons, the actress shared videos of her last day on set, saying goodbye to her co-stars and co-workers on the series.

She wrote, along with the goodbye post, “From Diva to DuBois–onward and upwards! All my to love to those who brought love into these last 6 years♥️???.”

Insecure stars Issa Rae and Yvonne Orji also shared goodbye posts to their respective social media accounts last week.
