Black Twitter reacts to Megan Thee Stallion, Shenseea ‘Lick’ video
The racy track is the first single from Shenseea’s debut album Alpha, which drops March 11
Megan Thee Stallion joined forces with Jamaican star Shenseea on the track “Lick,” and the visuals for the single have Black Twitter going wild.
The racy track is the first single from Shenseea’s debut album Alpha, which drops March 11.
Shenseea signed to Rich Immigrants and Interscope in 2019 and released her debut single “Blessed” the same year. She followed up with the tracks “Run Run,” “Be Good,” and “You’re the One I Love”. She can also be heard on Kanye West’s DONDA, album contributing to “Pure Souls” and “OK OK Pt 2.”
The colorful music video for “Lick” shows Shenseea and Megan twerking and grinding on each other, featuring plenty of scantily-clad, booty-clapping dancers.
Black Twitter appears to be divided over the clip, with many noting that Megan is “on her hands and knees twerking… again.” Others expressed their frustration with the same ol’ lyrics about oversexed females.
“The video felt so forced with its sexuality and I love a lot of sexual songs but this one making me uncomfortable says a lot,” one user wrote.
“I love body positivity, but I am beginning to get a little desensitized by all the sexual. I just want real art, real bars!” another said.
“Love shensea so much but this was not it. Megan’s flow is old and recycled. I want to hear more than pussy bars it’s getting TIRED,” a third added.
“I’m tired of Megan’s videos. Like they are all looking the same. Hot girl boring. These artists jumping to work with each other and there is zero chemistry,” one user noted.
“This is what artists resort to when they lack actual talent. We have seen this story before, next,” wrote one user.
“Shenseea really didn’t need this to break mainstream. She’s so talented. I know the Caribbean islands are in deep and fervent prayer for her after this,” another said.
Meanwhile, theGrio previously reported that Megan Thee Stallion has signed a first-look deal with Netflix. The terms of this exclusive deal give the three-time Grammy Award winner the ability to create and executive produce a new series for the streamer.
“I’ve always had a passion for telling creative and entertaining stories, so I’m thrilled about this partnership with Netflix,” Megan said in a statement. “Venturing into production is the next step in my journey as an entrepreneur and I can’t wait to bring all my ideas to life and for my Hotties to watch.”
There’s no word on what kind of projects the “WAP” rapper is planning.
