Last week, Cannon clarified comments he made that he was planning to be celibate.

“I’m trying to chill out though. I’m chilling out. I’m kinda stepping away, getting focused, going within, getting my celibacy on,” he said last fall. “I have enough children, enough frolicking. I’m good right now. … I’m trying. I didn’t say I’m perfect.”

“I love all my kids,” added Cannon on the Drink Champs podcast hosted by N.O.R.E and DJ EFN in October.

However, on his eponymous talk show, Cannon said he didnā€™t break his celibacy, but that he started the journey after learning that model Bre Tiesi was pregnant with his eighth child.

“My therapist was one of the [people] who said I should probably be celibate, and the reason why is because I had shared that news about Bre being pregnant,” he said on Nick Cannon. “That was the reason why I started my celibacy journey back then. So for anyone who’s thinking, ‘Oh he wasn’t celibate,’ I was!”

“I felt like I was out of control, and honestly, celibacy did help me through the journey of getting one with myself and being able to deal with this,” he added.

Cannon toldĀ PEOPLEĀ magazine his No. 1 priority is his children.Ā

“I’m a father, first and foremost,” he said. “There’s a lot of guilt that I feel and I talk about this in therapy all the time. It’s rooted in not having enough time to spend with my loved ones, specifically my children, because I have a lot of children. I’m also spread so thin in my work because that’s how I cope. That’s how I deal with things. I have several jobs and several shows and movies and music, all that stuff. And I call myself a provider for many, but one thing no matter how much money I generate, one thing I can’t generate is time.”

Cannon has 10-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, with ex-wife Mariah Carey; 4-year-old Golden and 1-year-old Powerful Queen, with model Brittany Bell; and 7-month-old twins, Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir, whom he shares with Abby De La Rosa. His infant son, Zen, who died in December of brain cancer, was with model Alyssa Scott. He and Tiesi announced earlier this year that they are expecting a son.

“It’s not about quantity, it’s about quality,” said Cannon. “And it’s really just having quality moments with my children, quality moments with my family. Had a lot of quality moments with Zen in his short time here. I always say time is a manmade thing, but love and energy is a godsend.”
