OWN announces ‘Love & Marriage: DC’ with RHOP’s Monique Samuels

'Love & Marriage' officially becomes a franchise as its first spin-off sets its sights on the DMV

Love & Marriage is expanding. The popular OWN series Love & Marriage: Huntsville has announced its first official spinoff, Love & Marriage: DC, which will see the return of Monique Samuels to reality television after her exit from The Real Housewives of Potomac in 2021.

With Love & Marriage: DC, OWN has announced its first-ever reality TV spin-off, marking the success of the series and Carlos King‘s Kingdom Reign Entertainment. Fans may remember King was a producer on various Real Housewives franchises, most notably The Real Housewives of Atlanta, for several years. With Love & Marriage, the producer now has a franchise of his own and is bringing some Real Housewives power with him for the D.C. iteration.

Reality TV fans may remember Samuels from the popular Bravo series, The Real Housewives of Potomac, which she was on for four seasons. Married to former NFL player Chris Samuels, the series showed her navigating her family life along with her friendships with her fellow real housewives.

Season 5 proved to be climactic for Samuels, following a dramatic fallout between her and Candiace Dillard Bassett. After a physical altercation and intense reunion, Samuels exited the series, which moved forward without her in season 6.

On Love & Marriage: DC Monique and Chris are joined by their friends Erana and Jamie Tyler, along with Ashley Silva and her husband DJ Quicksilva. Samuels took to Instagram to announce her return to reality TV, writing to her followers, “Get to know the REAL, WHOLE me” thanks to the KING @thecarlosking_ ??❤️? I’m BACK!!!! Saturday nights on @owntv will never be the same!”

King also celebrated the spin-off announcement, writing on his Instagram, “Woke up this morning feeling extremely grateful and humbled. To be a Black man who created a franchise is what I prayed for and to see it come true is nothing but God’s blessing. Thankful to my Love and Marriage: Huntsville cast who set the blueprint and @owntv. And can’t wait for you all to meet the #LAMDCcast. Swipe ??❤️ #LAMH.”

While Love & Marriage: DC has yet to announce its release date, Love & Marriage Huntsville is set to return to OWN with all-new episodes on Saturday, March 19 at 8 p.m. This season will see the return of Melody Holt and Martell Holt, Kimmi and Maurice Scott, Marsau and LaTisha Scott, and Destiny Payton-Williams. New cast members include Tiffany and Louis Whitlow.
