Rihanna, A$AP Rocky host rave-themed baby shower in Hollywood
Kept very private, the guests couldn't record videos or take photos — and were reportedly asked to keep their phones in secure pouches upon entry.
Superstar singer, billionaire, and soon-to-be mama Rihanna and boyfriend rapper A$AP Rocky threw a lavish baby shower in Hollywood, an event featuring a rave theme and a strictly A-list group of guests.
According to Hip Hollywood, the party, held Friday night, was kept super private, and attendees were not allowed to record videos or take photos — and were asked to keep their phones in secure pouches upon entry.
The site adds that the venue was beautifully curated. Guests were dressed in bright-colored neon outfits, and its official guest of honor wore a huge fur hat.
Hip Hollywood also confirmed that members of Rihanna’s family came from Barbados to attend the exclusive event.
Guests were given commemorative tees which featured photos of the happy couple as children on the front with the words “Rih and Rocky Rave Shower” and boasting on the back, “I Went To Rih & Rocky’s Rave Shower And All I Got Was This Amazing Shirt.”
The expectant couple has reportedly opted out of creating a registry for gifts.
The baby shower went forward despite A$AP Rocky’s recent arrest in Los Angeles.
As previously reported by theGrio, the rapper was detained at Los Angeles International Airport last Wednesday in connection to a shooting in the fall of last year. The Harlem rapper was traveling to L.A. from Barbados, where he and Rihanna were vacationing, per NBC News.
The shooting in question allegedly took place on Nov. 6, 2021, following an appearance at ComplexCon. The victim alleges that Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, shot at him three or four times, and one of the bullets grazed his hand.
After the rapper was detained, Complex reported that LAPD executed a search warrant at his home with a SWAT team and a battering ram. One of his neighbors called the execution of the search warrant “excessive,” adding, “[I]t was like they came for Capone…I’m frankly offended by it…seems so inappropriate…he’s a great neighbor.”
