Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Rutgers football coach Greg Schiano says it is not appropriate now to update the medical status of Eric LeGrand, who was paralyzed from the neck down while making a tackle.

Schiano was asked during a conference call Monday if LeGrand had experienced movement or feeling since he was injured two days ago.

The coach says he wants to refrain from giving daily medical updates but will provide information when appropriate.

LeGrand was hurt in the fourth quarter against Army on Saturday while making a tackle on Malcolm Brown on the kickoff return after Rutgers tied the score.

The junior defensive tackle lay on the turf for at least five minutes while medical and emergency personnel treated him and players on both teams watched.
