Welcome to the week in pop culture! Here’s all the black entertainment news and headlines from the week.

The ‘glow’ of Miss Angola: Crowned Miss Universe

Eighty-eight other competitors and the 60th Anniversary of the world’s biggest pageant was won by bronze beauty Leila Lopez of Angola, who plans on using her crown to help right the wrongs of her native country. Beautiful inside and out, when asked what physical trait she would change if she could, Lopez gracefully answered, “I wouldn’t change a thing.” (Access Hollywood)

Mr. Entertainment to host tribute to the King of Pop

Comedian, singer and Oscar award winning actor Jamie Foxx has landed yet another major role hosting and performing live at the Michael Jackson tribute concert in Wales in October. So far the line-up includes some pretty major artist and according to TMZ, one major performance includes Miss Baby Bump, despite contrary reports. (TMZ)

Oh no she didn’t!

Yes she did! Serena Williams was neck rolling and name calling on the court at Monday’s championship match at the U.S. Open. Calling the umpire a ‘hater’ probably wasn’t the smartest way to refute a bad call.

Williams was fined $2,000 and loss the match to opponent, Samantha Stosur. This isn’t Williams first tirade on the court, wasn’t the worst and probably won’t be the last. Some are wondering if “the punishment fits the crime.” (ESPN)

Kevin Hart is laughing all the way to the bank

According to Entertainment Weekly, Kevin Hart’s new indie film Laugh at My Pain “joked its way to a top 10 box office debut.” Hart’s movie did better than projected, only showing in 97 theaters and he thanked the fans for showing up and showing out. Hoping to piggy back off his new success but not wanting to pigeonhole himself, Hart is looking for his next big gig. (Entertainment Weekly)

Move over Jay-Z and Diddy

There’s a new man topping charts. Forbes has crowned the man behind ‘Madea’ as the highest paid man in entertainment. Only 2 of 10 listed were actors, Tyler Perry being one, but it was his many roles as writer, director and producer that led to his $130 million dollar payday this year. (Forbes)

And the ‘Donkey of the Day’ goes to…

Leroy Mckelvey , father of 105.1 Breakfast Club host, Charlemagne tha God, dressed in all his Dallas Cowboys gear opened Taser on a few Jets fans in the stands at the 9/11 game. How did he even get through security with that thing on the biggest national security day, not even Charlemagne knows? But one thing Charlemagne says he is certain about is that dad is a nice man who was only trying to defend himself. (ESPN)

Tupac’s still hitting ‘em up’ 15 years later

Tuesday, September 13, marked fifteen years since Tupac Shakur, then 25, was gunned down after a fight in Las Vegas. Shakur has certainly shown, through constant rumors of him still being alive, his presence and relevance on the hip-hop scene, from Keisha Cole sampling his song to the new single ‘Tupac’s Back’, that there is “life after death”. (Billboard Hits)

From rapper to political analyst

Mr. Lil-Weezy-Ana is now more than the self-appointed mayor of hometown Louisiana. He now is using his voice to not only rap but to speak out against the Tea Party saying that, “Obama doesn’t get respect because he is black.” (VIBE)

The urban world

In addition to celebrities crashing the NYC for fashion week, the Urbanworld Film Fest may bring out a few more. Chris Rock, Spike Lee, 50-Cent and even Basketball Wives’ Meeka Claxton are amongst a few of the celebs making guests appearances or showing off their work. (Urban Daily)

Advice from the ‘Pied Piper of R&B’

Not only did R. Kelly stop in at Chicago’s WGCI’s morning radio show to talk about his upcoming album release of Black Panties (Why doesn’t the name surprise me?), he gave his opinion on who he thinks is air to the throne. Kelly claims that the only way Trey Songz is next in line is if he humbles up a bit but believes Chris Brown has the full package. (Concrete Loop)

And she’s feeling good

Jennifer Hudson and fiancé David Otunga have finally set a date. Three years and a two-year old later, this star studded diva says she is just as excited as any other bride-to-be. (Bossip)
