WASHINGTON — Texas Gov. Rick Perry® is running a new 30-second ad that advocates voting President Obama out of office in 2012 because his “socialist policies are bankrupting America.”

The ad, titled “Lazy,” is running heavily on Fox News. It features a clip of the president saying, “We’ve been a little bit lazy I think over the last couple of decades.” Perry calls that statement “pathetic,” adding, “Obama’s socialist policies are bankrupting America. We must stop him now.”

“As President Obama continues to make excuses for our nation’s economic struggles, apologizing for America and disparaging Americans by calling us lazy, soft and un-ambitious, Gov. Perry is offering solutions to reverse the damage inflicted by this out-of-touch administration,” Ray Sullivan, communications director for the Perry campaign, said in a statement. “This ad underscores Gov. Perry’s priority to overhaul Washington through common-sense measures including a balanced budget amendment and reducing Congressional salaries.”
