Fresh on the heels of the controversy surrounding Beyoncé traveling in a car without putting Blue Ivy in a car seat, another black celebrity baby was snapped in a state of relative peril. Paparazzi photographed Scary Spice, a.k.a. Melanie Brown, and her husband Stephen Belafonte strolling down the street near a park in Australia — where Stephen stopped to do push-ups with their infant child strapped to his chest.
Does this fall into the same category as Michael Jackson dangling baby Blanket over the edge of a balcony? No. Six-month-old Madison looks no worse for the treatment in subsequent pictures.
But the proximity of that little girl’s head to those rocks has some members of theGrio staff wondering: What was Belafonte thinking?
