R&B legend Lionel Richie performed for his upcoming television special, ACM Presents: Lionel Richie and Friends in Concert, on Monday in Las Vegas. The show featured more than a dozen performances of Richie’s hit songs, and saw collaborations with some of country music’s biggest stars, such as Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride, and The Rascal Flatts.

Richie’s latest album, Tuskegee, has been met with rave reviews and sold more copies in its first week (199,000) than his last album sold in total. The former Commodores member hasn’t sold that many albums since 1986.

Richie has said making this album was a “coming home.”

Tuskegee also proved the perfect melting pot for all of my influences as a writer, and as my songwriting progressed, I realized that my songs perfectly translated to country music.”

Lionel Richie and Friends will premier on CBS April 13, at 9pm eastern.

Proceeds from the show benefit ACM Lifting Lives, the Academy’s philanthropic organization, which works towards improving lives through music.
