The paparazzi have snapped Madonna’s adopted African children, David Banda and Mercy James, in New York City recently — apparently after a cupcake run. Their nanny was carrying their tasty booty picked up from Crumbs bake shop as they strolled with a friend. Both David and Mercy were adopted amid a swath of controversy, as many — including Oprah — questioned Madonna’s right to adopt two African children with living relatives in their native Malawi. But things have certainly died down as these two little ones have settled nicely in to life living with the iconic pop singer.

In March of this year, the singer said of her mixed brood of adopted and natural-born children: “I’m not going to lie — it’s hard work having four kids and doing all the work I do. Everybody has something to say about the way I live my life. At the end of the day I’m doing my best. If people don’t like it, then that’s really their problem. Sometimes I cope with it very well, sometimes it’s a struggle. It’s a challenge juggling everything — multi-tasking is my middle name.”

Well, Madonna seems to be doing a very good job. Mercy and David look very happy.
