The NBA is teaming up with a film studio in China to produce a movie titled Amazing from the Shanghai Film Group. The film will feature NBA stars Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard and Yi Jianlian, as well as former star Scottie Pippen. Amazing will tell the story of a fictional world that uses basketball imagery in a video game visual similar to Tron:Legacy.

During a global press conference held last night David Shoemaker, the CEO of NBA China, said,  “For the NBA, this partnership with industry leader Shanghai Film Group represents an important first step to engage our fans in entertainment all across China.” Shanghai Daily reports:

For the first time, the NBA is partnering with a non-US film studio to release a major film overseas, the producers announced at a global press conference last night in the city.

“Amazing,” a production by the Shanghai Film Group, tells the story of a fictional world known as “The Sixth Sense.” It uses basketball imagery to combine the visual elements of a video game with a movie, akin to the 2010 American science fiction film “Tron: Legacy.”

The president of Shanghai Film Group, Ren Zhonglun; the CEO of NBA China, David Shoemaker; director Sherwood Hu and the cast were present at last night’s publicity news conference.

Savoy Park and some other rent-stabilized housing projects in Harlem have been bought by private companies that are now going through financial problems due to the mortage banking crisis, leaving advocates of subsidized housing projects fearing for the fate of the inexpensive housing.
