From EURWeb: The little girl from Beasts of the Southern Wild has gone Hollywood.

Deadline.com is reporting that talent agency ICM Partners has signed Quvenzhane Wallis, the 8-year-old actress who captivated the Sundance and Cannes Film festivals earlier this year starring as Hushpuppy in the Benh Zeitlin-directed drama.

The Louisiana-filmed movie – which was acquired by Fox Searchlight, won the Caméra d’Or award at Cannes and the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance – tells the story of 6-year-old Hushpuppy, her ailing father, Wink (Dwight Henry), and a group of resilient people cordoned off from civilization by a large body of water and always fearing the flood that may wash away their lives.

Quvenzhané was selected from over 4,000 young ladies to make her film debut in the lead role.
