Django Unchained stars Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington, and Leonardo DiCaprio are gracing the latest cover of Vibe magazine.

In the spread, Foxx, Washington and DiCaprio talks about the making of the film and its controversial  treatment of the topic of slavery.

Washington was actually surprised by some of the things that Foxx had to do for the film, like wearing a medieval metal mask.

“When I went to the production office to meet about my wardrobe, I saw into the research office. Twenty photos of real masks like that. It made me sad,” said Washington

For his part. DiCaprio was happy that he got to play a villain because as he was able to indulge in the darkest sides of himself without any restraints or rules.

They all express some concern for certain acts of violence, racist remarks and foul language that were in director Quentin Tarantino’s script and how they overcame their initial shock after reading it.

Django Unchained is due to hit theaters December 25, 2012.
