Alicia Keys is back on the scene with her new album Girl on Fire and a brand new look. Sporting locks that are chin length, the married mom of her toddler Egypt has been seen on stages internationally wearing her new cut razor straight. She has also worn the hairstyle curly on a recent cover of Jet magazine. This is certainly a departure for the star, whose lengthy career has been equally matched by long tresses, whether worn in braids or loose styles.
Now, Keys wants to cut her hair event shorter.
According to the Associated Press, when Keys was asked in a recent interview whether she would consider shaving her head, the superstar replied: ”I’m thinking about something like that. I’m telling you. I’m going there. I’m doing it.”
Keys feels that her new style, which debuted over the summer, allows her more styling freedom.

In an interview with People, she elaborated that her inspiration was a new track from her latest opus. “I put out a song called ‘New Day’ on my album and I was just like, ‘You know what? It’s a new day and I’m cutting this thing off,’” she told the glossy.
Apparently, motherhood was another motivation. “I’ve heard from a lot of mothers who cut their hair, too. I thought it was kind of special and brave,” Keys said of her decision, “but apparently it’s a new mother thing.”
If Keys goes even shorter she will join Jill Scott and Prince among other multifaceted stars to have gone supershort and natural during mature stages of their careers.
