NEW YORK (AP) — Paula Deen has been dropped by the Food Network and Wal-Mart, but book-buyers are standing by her.
As of Thursday morning, “Paula Deen’s New Testament: 250 Recipes, All Lightened Up,” ranked No. 1 on Amazon.com. The book is scheduled for October. Another Deen book, “Paula Deen’s Southern Cooking Bible,” was at No. 13. Several other Deen books were out of stock.
Deen, who hails from the U.S. South and specializes in the region’s comfort food, has faced increasing criticism since admitting that she used a racial slur. During a deposition in a discrimination lawsuit filed by an ex-employee, the chef admitted to using the N-word.
