During an interview with theGrio, the "Booty Boot Camp" diva talked about her reality TV fame and also revealed why she was unable to attend NeNe Leakes’s wedding.

Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kenya Moore sought to empower women this weekend at the Essence Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Kenya discussed how reality TV currently portrays black women during an Essence Festival Empowerment Panel and appeared on MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry show to defend how she represents black women on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

During an interview with theGrio, the Booty Boot Camp diva talked about her reality TV fame and also revealed why she was unable to attend NeNe Leakes’s wedding.

Last month NeNe re-married her ex-husband Gregg Leakes during a lavish Atlanta ceremony surrounded by 400 guests including Cythia Bailey, Kandi Burruss, Jennifer Williams, Kim Zolciak, Porsha Stewart and more. Although Kenya was invited, she was unable to attend the old-Hollywood-themed affair.

“I didn’t go to NeNe’s wedding. I was in Africa at the time. I don’t think she’s too happy about that,” Moore confessed.

“I have apologized to her. We actually were on the same flight to LA last week. She has so many things going on I don’t think she really realized that I told her that I wasn’t going to be able to make it. I’m sure I’m gonna get a lot of heat when I’m in the midst of a lot of these women.”

NeNe just wrapped up shooting her Bravo special I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding, and took to Twitter today to reveal that she is headed back to Atlanta to begin filming season 6 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta this week.

“Back n the A! it’s that time again! [I] start shooting Housewives of Atlanta this week! I’m exhausted thinking abt [sic] it,” NeNe tweeted.

Prior to ending her interview with theGrio’s Chris Witherspoon, Kenya delivered an impromptu apology to NeNe for missing her wedding.

“NeNe I love you. You know I couldn’t make your wedding,” Kenya said. ‘I will send you the most incredible gift. I will buy several things on your gift registry and have them special delivered. But more importantly you know I love you, and I really appreciate you and I really am sorry that I wasn’t able to make your special day.”
