NBC Chicago – A 50-year-old Chicago man has been charged with attacking a neighbor with a chainsaw on Chicago’s South Side, police said.

Anthony Metcalf of the 1000 block of West 103rd Street is accused of nearly slicing off his neighbor’s fingers after the two got into a heated dispute early Wednesday morning.

Metcalf was charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, police said. He was due in bond court Friday.

Police said the attack happened just before 2 a.m. in the backyard of a home in the Washington Heights neighborhood.

Preston Smith, 55, and his neighbor were hanging out late into the night when they got into some sort of altercation, police said. The neighbor pulled out a chainsaw and wound up slicing Smith’s neck and hands, nearly slicing off some of the man’s fingers.
