Around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, security officers at the National Civil Rights Museum they heard glass breaking and went to check out the area.

They found a smashed window on the second floor of the Lorraine motel – the same motel where civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated.

Memphis police arrived on the scene and found a man lying in a bed of one of the motel rooms asleep.

The room was just a few doors away from the room Dr. King stayed the day he died.

The man was taken into custody, and police searched the room but didn’t find any other damage.
