A California father is accused of boarding his special needs son’s bus and attacking another student who was allegedly bullying his son.

Police say Burnis Hurd got on the bus headed for Wilson Elementary School after his 8-year-old autistic son and started yelling at other students.

“[He was] yelling and screaming at all the students accusing them of bullying his son and focused on one student. He picked him up and hit him against the side of the school bus,” said Capt. Mark Gagan of the Richmond Police Department, reports NBC Bay Area.

The 11-year-old who was picked up suffered a minor scratch to his cheek, according to authorities.

Hurd was arrested on charges of child abuse, and his bail was set at $50,000.

Investigators believe Hurd was intoxicated during the time of the altercation.
