Was Craigslist an option for a North Carolina mom or a means to get attention?

A pregnant homeless mother in Durham was unable to get the city’s Department of Social Services to provide shelter for her and her five young children.

So 32-year old Moshimalee Johnson took out an ad in Craigslist asking for help. In the ad, which appeared in the apartment rental section, she pleaded for someone to take her kids in, at least until she could find a job.

Her kids are ages 9, 7, 6 and twins who are 2-years old.

Needless to say, caseworkers then moved in to take custody of the children and put them into foster care.

A spokesman would not confirm if their action was in response to the Craigslist ad.
