Kanye West already defended himself regarding the wheelchair fiasco that happened during his September 12 concert, but that’s not enough. His wife Kim Kardashian has also come to his defense about the incident.
The story behind the “Wheelchair Incident” was that he apparently stopped singing and demanded everyone to get on their feet, refusing to go on with his performance until everyone in the audience stood up.
In a video that recently circulated around the net, West can be heard saying that he cannot do the song until everyone in the crowd stands up, unless that person “got a handicap pass and you get special parking and sh**.”
West appeared annoyed when he saw that there was a person in the crowd who remained seated, and asked if he was in a wheelchair. The crowd yelled in affirmation, but he still sent his body guard to double check. Once the fan was confirmed to really be in a wheelchair, he then went on to sing “Good Life.”
During his Brisbane concert on Monday, he took his time to rant about how the media was twisting stories to demonize him and demanded that they “pick another target.” Just like the wheelchair event, there’s also a video of that incident, too.
Kim Kardashian also came to Kanye’s rescue in an post on her Instagram account, saying, “What an amazing Australian tour! Its frustrating that something so awesome could be clouded by lies in the media. Kanye never asked anyone in a wheel chair to stand up & the audience videos show that. He asked for everyone to stand up & dance UNLESS they were in a wheel chair. #JustWantedEveryoneToHaveAFunNight #TheMediaTwistsThings.”
While it is true that West asked everyone not sitting in a wheelchair to stand up and that it has been reported quite differently in the media, what he and Kim do not understand is the reason why he is taking flak for his action. The reason why people are hating on him for the incident is that he had the gall to require the fan to prove himself really unable to stand or else he would not carry on with the concert.
