theGRIO VIDEO - Aretha Franklin performs her cover of Adele's 'Rolling in the Deep' on the 'Late Show,' and Cissy Houston forgets the lyrics while singing background....

Monday, we shared the exciting news with you that Aretha Franklin would be covering Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” for her new album, Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics.

Last night, she became a trending topic on Facebook and Twitter after she performed a mash-up of “Rolling in the Deep” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” on the Late Show.

Today several media outlets are praising the 72-year-old “Queen of Soul” for her rousing performance, but there’s one tiny elephant in the room that not too many people are addressing.

Last night for her performance, Franklin was joined by five backup singers, including Whitney Houston’s mother and Gospel singing legend, Cissy Houston.

However, throughout much of the performance, Houston is seen rolling her eyes, not moving along with the rest of the backup singers, and flat out not singing the lyrics.

We would love to get the behind-the-scenes tea on this performance.

Let us know what you think.
